Since the restoration of independence by the transfer of sovereignty from the United Nations on 20 May 2002, both the East Timor National Parliament and the Government have enacted laws pertaining to land in East Timor. They are:
Law No 1 of 2003 on the Juridical Regime of Real Estate Part I - Ownership of Immovable Property
Law No 12 of 2005 on the Juridical Regime of Real Estate Part II - Leasing Between Individuals
Juridical Regime of Property: Official Allocation and Leasing of Private Property of the State
